The University Senate is the academic governing body of the University. Its members are faculty, students and staff who are elected from their schools and colleges, along with administrators. The Senate advises the Chancellor across all of the issues relevant to the University’s operation. This arrangement reflects our collective commitment to the principles of shared governance.
Most of the Senate’s work is done in its nine standing committees, each of which reports to the full Senate at least once a year.
The next Senate meeting is April 15, 2026.
